The fourth edition of the biggest hacking competition for students is almost ready to kick off. This year, the annual HTB University CTF (2 - 4 December 2022) will aim to train more than 2,500 aspiring cybersecurity professionals all around the world while raising awareness particularly relevant to our large and growing community: cyberbullying.

At Hack The Box, we always had a mission to create a safer cyber world, which also includes the promotion of positive digital behavior. On the occasion of our Capture The Flag event dedicated to students, hence speaking to the younger portion of our community, we decided to allocate a $3,000 donation to The Cybersmile Foundation, one of the leading anti-cyberbullying nonprofit organizations since 2010.

Hack The Box & Cybersmile Foundation: Together Against Cyberbullying

About The Cybersmile Foundation

The Cybersmile Foundation is a multi-award-winning nonprofit organization committed to digital well-being and tackling all forms of bullying and abuse online, working to promote kindness, diversity, and inclusion by building a safer, more positive digital community.

The Cybersmile Foundation is committed to helping everyone realize their true potential by supporting those affected, changing negative behaviors, and through education – preparing this and further generations for a safe and positive digital future.

Why it is important to us

Our community is entirely online and almost reaching 200,000 members on Discord, where most of our community members hang out and socialize. This is also a way to thank and appreciate the work of our Discord team, moderators, and administrators (and generally, whoever offers support) in keeping our space healthy and inclusive for everyone, no matter the background they come from.

We want to make sure the new cybersecurity talents can find Hack The Box a safe place to learn, grow, and cultivate their hobby that can quickly become a rewarding career in the future. Raising awareness against cyberbullying is just the first action to provide this kind of space to the younger portion of our community.

In 2022, 23% of students reported that they’ve said or done something mean or cruel to another person online. 27% reported that they’d experienced the same from someone else. By participating in the HTB University CTF, you will have the chance to hack for good and help us in our mission!
