We’ve been busy working behind the scenes to bring you a brand-new HTB Academy experience, redesigned from the ground up to make your learning experience smoother, faster, and more accessible.

The new Academy 2.0 (Beta) features a modern interface, enhanced usability, and improved performance across various devices. It’s not just a facelift; we’d like to think of it as a foundation for everything that’s to come next.

That said, the way you use this platform matters to use. Our changes reflect what we know, but there’s still much we’d like to hear about during this process!

Who led the charge for Academy 2.0’s Beta?

When something changes on our platform, we want to express the “why” behind it. There is nobody who’s better equipped to answer that than the impassioned creators who sank their time into the project over the previous year to get this accomplished.

“From a technical perspective, we always strive to provide the best possible user and learning experience. Leveraging the latest technologies, along with some necessary architectural changes, allows us to introduce greater modularity, ship features faster, and establish a foundation that can support what comes next.

This redesign isn’t just a new look. It’s a stronger, more flexible platform built to evolve with our community’s needs.” – boulit, Technical Lead at Hack The Box

This team made heroic strides to bring a more focused vision of Academy’s utility for our users, and we can’t thank them enough. But, they aren’t done just yet!

“The Academy Redesign was a must-do for us to modernize our tech stack and elevate the UI/UX—so learners get a faster, smoother, and more engaging experience. Behind the scenes, it also unlocks a big win for our dev team: faster, more reliable feature delivery and a much better DX.

I’m thrilled to see a product our community already loves reimagined with state‑of‑the‑art tech—and I hope you’ll share the excitement."  – gdetor, Software Engineer at Hack The Box

Using Academy 2.0 (and going back if you need to)

While we’re in beta, you can switch between the new and legacy versions anytime. Just open your Profile Menu and choose the version you want to use. Once Academy 2.0 exits beta, it’ll become the main experience for everyone.

What’s still on the way

A few familiar features aren’t in the beta yet, including Notes, Student Transcript, Friend Referral, My Certificates, and Voucher Redemption.

Don’t worry, you can still access all of them in the legacy platform until they’re added back in future releases.
